Heard this tale from Dan Millman of a farmer who had a horse. One day, the horse ran away. "Bad luck", the neighbours commented. But the horse returned the next day, with three wild horses following it. "Good luck", others told him. Until the farmer's son tried to ride on one of the wild horses, fell off and broke a leg. "Terrible luck", their relatives lamented. But soon, every young and able men from the village were enlisted into the national army to fight a war. The farmer's son was spared because of his broken leg!
So whether an event that occurs is good or bad depends not on its immediate outcome and consequences. It helps to view the bigger picture, from a broader perspective, in a larger time frame. It helps to look from the eyes of the Almighty, and His timeless Word.
No wonder the Scripture encourages us to "give thanks in all circumstances for it is God's will....", and "all things work together for good....." and "what can men do to us...?"
How blessed it is to be a receiver and a believer of the Word!
